| New UK 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' Poster |
[31 Jul 2011|12:48am] |
The Secret is Out! I'm just loving the imagery for this film, it's so sleek yet unique and fits perfectly with this film. As we're still waiting on the US release, our friends in the UK are getting all the treats. We featured the first teaser trailer and first poster for Tomas Alfredson's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy last month, now LoveFilm has debuted another brand new UK quad poster with more hidden codes and more Gary Oldman on it. Apparently there are words/codes hidden on the poster (they're hosting a contest to find them), which is just frickin' cool. The more we see from this, the more excited I get, expecting another hit from Alfredson.

| Colin Gets Freedom Of The City |
[19 Jul 2011|01:59am] |
Colin Firth will soon be picking up another honour after he was awarded the Freedom of the City of London.
The actor, who was recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours with a CBE last month, is expected to accept the honour sometime in the next six months.
The father-of-three is no stranger to awards and won the Best Actor Oscar for his role as stuttering monarch King George VI.
He has also been recognised for his work on behalf of his wife's native Italy.
Colin, who married producer Livia Giuggioli in 1997, was made a Commander of the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity in 2005.
A spokesman for the City of London Corporation said: "Colin Firth has enjoyed a remarkable year, having been honoured with a CBE by Her Majesty the Queen, and winning an Oscar, Bafta and Golden Globe for his performance in The King's Speech.
"He is a very deserving candidate for the Freedom and we look forward to welcoming him and his guests to the Square Mile for his ceremony."
The Freedom of the City of London is believed to date back to 1237 and is granted by the City of London Corporation to celebrate outstanding contributions to London life.
Many of the traditional privileges associated with it, such as driving sheep over London Bridge or being hanged with a silken rope, no longer exist.

| Colin Firth made CBE in Queen's Birthday Honours List |
[10 Jun 2011|10:40pm] |
What a banner year for this man! ♥
Colin Firth made CBE in Queen's Birthday Honours List [BBC.co.uk]
From the page itself:
Colin Firth, already enjoying an Oscar-winning year, has been appointed a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
The actor, who won an Oscar for playing King George VI in the King's Speech, was recognised for services to drama.
It comes 16 years after he achieved heart-throb status as Jane Austen's brooding hero, Mr Darcy, in the BBC TV adaptation of Pride And Prejudice.
His other films include Bridget Jones's Diary, Fever Pitch and the Abba-themed movie musical Mamma Mia.
Firth also picked up a Bafta and numerous other awards for portraying the Queen's father in the King's Speech. The monarch herself may now present him with a CBE medal at a future Buckingham Palace investiture.

| Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz filming 'Gambit' at Heathrow |
[19 May 2011|06:54pm] |
Filming for the Coen Brothers' latest film truly got off to a flying start as its two stars shot scenes at Heathrow Airport.
Passengers tried to get a good view at Terminal 5 as Diaz strutted around in a pair of tiny shorts alongside her co-star Firth as they filmed the remake of 1960s crime caper Gambit.
Oscar winner Firth will take on the role originally played by fellow Brit Michael Caine - a thief who plans to steal a piece of expensive art from the world's richest man, to be played by Harry Potter's Alan Rickman.

| First Pic of Cameron Diaz & Colin Firth on the 'Gambit' Set; Stanley Tucci & Cloris Leachman Cast |
[16 May 2011|02:05am] |
Director Michael Hoffman (The Last Station) initiated principal photography last week on the remake of the 1966 caper comedy Gambit. Cameron Diaz and Colin Firth are subbing in for Shirley MacLaine and Michael Caine, respectively, as partners in a con to sell a fake Monet painting. Stanley Tucci and Cloris Leachman have just signed on to the production; they will be joined by Alan Rickman and Tom Courtenay. Factor in the Coen Brothers wrote the screenplay, and there’s plenty of talent on both sides of the Gambit camera.
Production is in London right now, with plans to shift to New Mexico. See the first official image of Diaz and Firth in costume on the Gambit set along with the official press release after the jump.

[15 May 2011|02:01am] |
Hej all!
I have a short question: is anybody here following @liviafirth - Colin's smart and stunning wife - on twitter? And if so, what does she mean by writing abour herself in her short profile "Wife of King in Spanx"? What is/are "Spanx" concerning our dear Colin? Is this about something I don't know about? Any clues?
Just wondering. :)
Edit: Oh, here is the link to her twitter-page.

| Colin to return to the West End in 'Betrayal' |
[30 Mar 2011|04:17am] |
Oscar winner Colin Firth is in talks to appear in the West End for the first time in more than a decade. The King’s Speech star is set to lead an all-star cast opposite Kristin Scott Thomas in Harold Pinter’s adultery drama Betrayal this autumn.
The couple co-starred in the 1996 box-office smash The English Patient when Kristin, 50, famously cheated on Colin’s character in the epic saga. In Betrayal, their characters Jerry and Emma have an extra-marital affair. "Colin has wanted to go on stage for a long while," says a source. "He’ll do Betrayal after he completes filming Gambit with Cameron Diaz and Alan Rickman." Source OMG!!!!
